Hydroelectric Energy
The GÖK Hydroelectric Power Plant, developed in the Tarsus district of Mersin, is a renewable energy project with a total installed capacity of 10.02 MW, comprising three units with a capacity of 3.34 MW each.
The project was developed through an integrated technical facility approach encompassing the assessment of the water resource’s energy potential, the development of hydraulic structures and electromechanical systems, the establishment of electricity generation infrastructure, and the safe and efficient operation of the power plant.
Project Scope
The project’s hydroelectric generation infrastructure was planned through the combined assessment of site conditions, water regime, generation targets, operational safety and system efficiency.
The technical requirements of the hydraulic structures needed to intake, convey and direct water into the power generation system under controlled conditions were evaluated through an integrated approach.
The power plant comprises three generation units, each with a capacity of 3.34 MW, while the turbine and generator systems were configured to support reliable, balanced and efficient electricity generation.
The electrical systems and connection infrastructure required to control, protect and transform the generated electricity and transmit it safely to the grid were planned as part of an integrated technical facility.
Control and automation solutions suited to the power plant’s operations were implemented to monitor the generation units, control operational data and support system safety.
The powerhouse, mechanical and electrical auxiliary systems, operational areas and maintenance requirements were evaluated to support operational continuity and technical accessibility.
Equipment safety, system compatibility, maintenance access and operational continuity were among the core components of the project development approach to ensure sustainable generation performance.
Technical Approach
The success of a hydroelectric energy project depends on the accurate analysis of the water resource, the compatibility of hydraulic and electromechanical systems, reliable electrical infrastructure and effective operational management.
In the GÖK Hydroelectric Power Plant Project, the generation units and technical facility components were evaluated as an integrated whole, with energy efficiency, operational safety, maintenance requirements and long-term facility performance placed at the centre of the project approach.
